The citizens of Sikeston, Missouri purchased three B25 Mitchell bombers early in the war through war bonds sold by the Sikeston Public Schools and officials. One of them was called 'Spirit of Sikeston'. It is believed that a later Bond Drive raised additional funds to purchase of P-51 Mustang and possibly other military equipment. Further information of this plane is sought.
