The type of 4-engine bomber purchased by bonds funded by members of the San Bernadino and Riverside Labor Councils in August 1943 is, as yet, unknown. However, it was to be named as "Spirit of Labor" according to newspaper articles in September. The aircraft could have been a Fortress, Liberator or PB4Y Catalina.
The two Labor Councils raised a total of $413,707 during the War Bond Drive which lasted for three weeks and ended on Labor Day.
