This Thunderbolt was purchased on behalf of residents of Aberdeen, South Dakota as a result of their War Bond Drive. In line with many of the War Bond P47s it carried the attribution on the fuselage side next to the national insignia.
It was photographed at the 81st Air Depot Group base on New Guinea. Although as yet unconfirmed it was probably assigned to the 348th Fighter Group.
