Using Venus Ramey, winner of Miss America 1944, as his inspiration Bill Tamburrino created a wonderful portrait on this B17. Assigned as an armorer, Bill's talent for drawing did not go unnoticed and he was initially asked to paint an airman's A2 jacket. A request to paint the nose of a B17 soon followed. The result was this masterpiece.
B17 "Venus Ramey" joined the 301BG in mid-October 44, survived the hostilities and returned to the USA to be scrapped at Kingman, Arizona.
