A war bond purchase from contributions by women of the Utah Federation of the General Federation of Womens Clubs. This was another War Department publicity photo showing a brand new silver B-17G which has been air brushed with its title. It is unlikely to ever have existed beyond this photo which was sent to the War Loan committee to mark their 'purchase' and to promote further bond sales in the next War Loan campaign.
Unlike in the earlier years of conflict, no christening ceremony took place. The photo was carefully staged so that no identifying marks or serial number could be seen. It was a stock image taken at one of the manufacturing plants prior to the plane being despatched overseas to join a combat unit in Europe or the Mediterranean.
