Appearance
Mississippi Miss

Arriving at 385BG’s base at Great Ashfield on 3 May 44 and initially assigned to the crew of Lt Howard Richardson, this Fort flew its first combat mission to Berlin on 19 May. This crew flew at least nine times in the plane including another sortie to Berlin five days later. Two further missions were headed to “Big B” by other crews as well as three to the costly synthetic oil plant at Merseburg.

By war’s end in the ETO, “Mississippi Miss” had completed at least 80 combat missions to many of the toughest targets across northwest Europe. It was flown back to Bradley Field, USA on 24 June 45 and finally scrapped later that year on 19 November.
