This C47-lookalike is actually a C-53 Skytrooper, a wartime survivor that is believed to have been assigned to 440th Troop carrier group initially but later stationed in Germany after hostilities had ceased with Air Transport Command. In the cockpit is Lt William C Bender who had flown B17s previously - gaining a Purple Heart for his trouble!
