Assigned to the USAAF on 14th August 1943, this troop carrier flew overseas on 20th Feb the following year to be assigned to the 61st Troop Carrier Group in England and marked with the fuselage code of 3I denoting the 14th Squadron.

Flying from Barkston Heath, it took part in the resupply mission on D+1 (7th June 1944) and sustained numerous flak and bullet holes in its wings, fuel tank and also had severe damage to ailerons.
