Lazy Daisy Mae

Painted by Sgt George Blackwell with the help of Cpl Joseph Merenda this aircraft was the first B25 to land on the Philippines on 28th October 1944.

It was reported missing on 9th January 1945 when the 345BG took off to support the amphibious landings at Lingayen Gulf, Luzon.

An hour after take off from Tacloban "Lazy Daisy Mae" disappeared from the formation over Sibuyan Island. Soon after a massive explosion on a nearby mountain marked the end of the plane and all the crew of Captain James Underwood, which included the Group Bombing & Gunnery Officer Maj William McBride.
