Betts

Assigned to the 95th Troop Carrier Squadron this C47 flew paratroopers from the 506th Parachute Infantry to drop over Carentan, Normandy on 6th June 1944, D-Day.

After several freight hauling and medivac flights it took part in the Market Garden operation flying members of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment on 17th September 1944, and then pulled a glider on the following day.

During the Battle of the Bulge "Betts" flew a mission to the beleaguered troopers in Bastogne on 27th December hauling a glider full of supplies. Hit by ground fire, it burst into flames and crashed.
