13th Seabees

13th NCB (Naval Construction Battalion) arrived on Tinian in October 1944 and was assigned to 6th CB Brigade, transferred from 2nd CB Brigade. The B29 also carried the title "Purple Shaft", a popular choice for nose art which, according to some veterans, had a double meaning both of which referred to the military's Draft system.
